30x30x30 Challenge: Days 19 thru 23
5 Days of work equals 5 new pieces! 2 figures, 1 face and 2 landscapes. I was playing around with painting and drawing on photo transfers and with painting and drawing on a fabric print of a past painting...just for fun. I really like how the messed up photo transfer with paint became the piece called the Beach. The Three Sisters goes out as homage to my Mom and my 2 Aunts to honor the beautiful little girls that they were! Click on each image to learn more about what went into them.

30x30x30 Challenge: Days 5 thru 15- The Dream Pages and Other Fun Projects
Life is what happens when you are busy not blogging. My 30 minutes of art for 30 days equals 30 pieces has taken a few detours. And its all good!
I just finished The Dream Pages 2, 48" x 60", of my fabulous friend Kathleen Brodeur. I used a photo that I took of her when we went to Greece in 2001. She was having one of those intense life moments- on the trip and I believe at this exact moment of the photo. I painted her over an abstract piece of mine called The Dream Pages. This one took quite a few 30 minutes intervals!
I also went to the Orlando Make Faire with my maker husband and our maker kids. We made the coolest stuff! We did arm knitting with upcycled t-shirt pieces as yarn as directed by the awesome ladies at Indie Craft Exchange. We silk screened t-shirts , created paper flowers from upcycled magazine pages, and made LED nightlights and LED pins. We all had a blast.
Tonight, I'm making an awesome dinner of roast chicken, rosemary potatoes, and pecan and pear salad. What are you making today?

Word For the Day: Grateful
I am grateful that its the first day of school for my boys! I am grateful that they go to such a great school where I trust the faculty. I am grateful that that they are getting what they need. I am grateful for finally finishing this painting even though it took me all summer. I am grateful for getting so much done today. And I am grateful that it's time to pick them up.
Mosaic and Clay Fun at the Library
I had a great time being the guest artist at the WT Bland Library today! The kids made clay and mosaic cups and sculptures and according to my awesome helpers, Nate and Nick, a good time seemed to be had by all. We used Crayola Model Magic, shells, beads, ocean glass pieces and markers. Some covered yogurt containers with the clay and embellishments and many went free form. The clay dries in 24 hours and can be clear coated after that with a mixture of half glue and half water. Check out some of the amazing and fun work that the kids made!
Portraits
I have been breaking my own rules again. I usually don't do portraits. They are hard and scary and intimidating; especially when you draw and paint people that you love. Especially when they are the children of my best friends! Of course I wanted them to come out right and look really good! I felt the fear and did it anyways. Twice. One as a Mother's Day present and one for a wedding present. The self inflicted pressure!! I was so nervous. To my huge relief, the gifts brought tears of joy and surprise. Sweet
